Camp Crystal Lake is Open...
Gun Media has launched a Kickstarter for “Friday the 13th: The Game” with a $700,00 goal. In the third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title, one player will control Jason Voorhees while seven control camp counselors try to survive the night.
According to the Kickstarter’s official description, “‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ is a…1v7 multiplayer set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake! It’s a classic horror fan’s dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we’re revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.”
The Kickstarter offers rewards between $5 and $10,000, from a “Be in the Game” option to an early bird copy of the game. The game will feature content “drawn straight from movies you know and love.”
The project originally began for Gun Media as “Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp,” which, as you might guess from the title, fit a certain niche involving a summer camp, a slasher, and more than a few nods to the team’s favorite camp-set slasher film. Cue “Friday the 13th” producer Sean Cunningham, who reached out to Gun Media after seeing the original game’s trailer and struck a deal with the developer for them to acquire the “Friday the 13th” game license. “Slasher” was then reimagined as an officially licensed “Friday the 13th” game, complete with all the Vorhees clan gamers can handle.
Appropriately, the “Friday the 13th: The Game” Kickstarter ends on Friday, November 13th. You can see more information on the official website and check out the game trailer below.
